Introduced into the Corgi range in 1961, Corgi 224 was available in two colour variations â in either black/ silver or two-tone green. It was given Corgiâs famed jewelled lights, an opening boot that housed a spare wheel, as well as âGlidamaticâ suspension. However, it was its fingertip steering that stole the show â an innovative feature that allowed the model to be turned smoothly to the left or right.
With silver plated bumpers and grille, plus Bentleyâs iconic âFlying Bâ mascot sitting proudly on the bonnet, Corgi certainly pulled out all the stops to impress. Despite healthy sales of over 960,000, production stopped in 1965 with rumours that Corgi 224 was too expensive to continue to be produced. It nevertheless remains one of the finest and fully-featured Corgi Toys of all time!
